Hoodo mountain

Hoodoo montains you will find on the northern edge of the Iskut River in remote north western British Colombia.
This flat topped volcano is among others placed in a region with volcanic activity.
Hoodo mountains rises to the west of the stikine volcanic belt, and is considered to be an active volcano that could erupt again.
Its flat top is some 3-4 km in diameter.
The flat top was formed beneath glacier ice,and its erliest eruption occured around 100000 years ago.
Most of the volcanic deposits found here are lava flows, and the most recent lava flows seems to have originated from under the ice cap.
You will find the twin Glacier to the northeast and Hoodo Glacier to the northwest.
Only the southern slope, which reaches down to the Iskut River floodplain,is free of ice.
If the volcano should erupt through its ice cap or or onto the surrounding glaciers, flooding of both the Iskut and Stikine could cause many problems for the nearby community.
A fantastic place to visit, with a magnificent view of the moutain and its surroundings.
